Pore Bearer
This is an interesting one. Or rather a revealing one. Ever since I understood this fundamental truth about myself, I became more mindful and aware of my thoughts. I think artists work and get their creative juice from different places. The way I do is soak up experiences through my senses and they kind of filter through my being and might get entangled with my personal thoughts, feelings and beliefs. The end product would be the poem or song or whatever else. It took me some time to figure out that it's not only my artistic part that has this, but also my whole being. I soak up whatever is happening in my environment like a sponge. This comes with its ups and downs especially when it comes to thoughts. Ever since then, when I have a thought that feels out of place, I ask myself, ‘is this yours or someone else’s’. Anything you have learnt about yourself later in your life?
Be like water.

I am. Sponge, you may
Know that word.
I soak up everything
It don’t matter its dirt.
I didn’t know that.
For hundreds of moons,
Trying to solve mysteries,
Enabling to sink below,
Searching for the source,
Seeing the room become small,
Conducting analysis,
Creating an escape plan,
Unifying with ancestors
That were summoned by
Blood and screams,
Browsing depths I never
Knew I had but found them,
Wishing for mothers lap,
Parking on a stranded patch
Of time that felt safe,
I know now. Pore bearer.
Sponge. I am.
