Wrinkle Dance

An ode to the sea with a little bit of warning. Be like water.

Written in El Cotillo, Fuerteventura, Spain 2021

It’s funny how you seem so smooth and loving when your structure is truly rigid. Inviting all in and singing them their tunes. Can you read everyone’s mind? Or you’re just the mirror of our souls?

A lady with a violin,

A merman with glossy tails,

A beauty with wings,

A sailor with striped garments

A body, a creature, a fiend, a dragon.

Your face changes every day.

What is your true colour?

I thought of pandemonium,

Atlantis hit my mind

But you don’t seem to answer

You’re a good aid whenever I need clarity,

but then if I don’t stop, I know you’ll take me.

Past the coils by the shores

you wage the war with boards.

A momentary win for us but the prize is yours.

We can be protected by the spines of the land,

just grow a little bigger my dear,

we will do the rest. Humans at that

Are the best.
